Dana Cowell just emailed the below report and picture from Sekiu:
"The fishing at Sekiu has been slow, with fog and wind to deal with in the morning. I had a nice fish hit the Old Goat OG2 2.8 green and black in 100 ft of water, and 50 ft of wire on the DR. After a good run, the line went slack, and I thought I had lost the fish. I quickly started reeling my slack line in, on the chance the fish was swimming towards the boat. Surprise! The fish was now at the boat, and not ready to come in! After fighting a few more minutes, the hatchery Chinook finally slowed down, so I could net it. At 13.5 pounds, and 30 inches, the fish was almost too big for my net! The Old Goat OG2 Lure got the job done!" Dana! Thanks for putting the OG2s to work up there!

Received the below report and photos from Ryan C. who has been fishing the Puget Sound for salmon:
"Here are some pics of chinooks caught with the 2.8 green/black OG2. This was taken in Area 9 of the Puget Sound." Ryan: We absolutely appreciate your putting the OG2s to work out there. Thank you!! Just noticed this report from Mason's Resort in Sekiu, Washington. (Looks like the 2.8" OG2 in fluoro-white-green-pink was fishing well!)
Just received the below message from a new customer (Steve H.) that gave the OG2s a try this past week:
"I used the OG2's in the Puget Sound of Washington(marine area 10) for kings and coho salmon for the first time. We were running 2 downriggers; one with hoochies and spoons, the other with OG's. The downrigger with OG's was hit consistently while the downrigger with hoochies/spoons was very quiet. I finally put OG's on both downriggers and both were hit consistently. Also, while fishing close to the bottom, OG's caught rockfish, sole, and flounder. I will be using them in Neah Bay WA this weekend. I plan on running the small OG's inshore along the coast and the big OG's offshore. Great lure, very impressed!!!! One question, would you say these run better with a flasher or a fish flash?" Steve: We absolutely appreciate reports like this! Thanks for passing this along!! To those interested, Steve had purchased the 2.8" and 3.9" OG2s in the green/blue-with-black-scales: We've created a couple of new stickers for your boat or truck. The smaller, 5-inch, sticker has a clear background and is designed to be put on light-colored paint. The larger, 6-inch, sticker has a white background which will work on light- or dark-colored paint (or your window).
You can order them through our online store. (We're selling them at our cost.) Received the below report from Dana Cowell who was fishing the OG2 last week out of Sekiu:
"I took a fishing trip to Sekiu for the 4th of July. I retied the same setup that I used successfully most of last year (Old Goat OG2 Blue/Green Lure with a Owner 3/0 Siwash hook, and 46 inches of 30 # fluorocarbon to a green Hot Spot flasher). I released about two dozen small or nice size wild salmon, looking for a hatchery keeper. I thought it was starting to rain, but it was bait fish jumping all around the boat! I looked at the fish finder and the upper part of the screen was solid bait fish. I was at 80ft of cable on the DR in 130 ft of water and went too far under the bait. I brought the cable up to 40 ft, and swung the boat around for another pass through the bait. Fish on! No adipose fin, so this King salmon went in the net. Eight and a half pounds, will go nice on the BBQ! Thanks Donn for making these fish catching lures! See attached photo!" Dana! Thanks for putting the OG2 to work and sending the report! A fisherman took a nice 27" Chinook on the 2.8" OG2 in fluoro-white/black-scales with green stripe.
He was fishing MA 11 in the Puget Sound. You can read his report here. |
