The original yellow-glow OG2 has proven to be very effective. So, we decided to add two more glow colors: green and white! (They're available in the 3.3" size.)

Just received the below report and photos from Dana C. who was fishing this past week out of Sekiu, Washington for the kings and coho:
"A 15 pound King was taken with the 3.3 inch UV OG2 lure behind a chrome flasher, 55 feet of cable just off the bottom. I later broke my leader and lost that lure trying to release a 25 plus pound wild King at the boat. On another day we caught a 8 pound King with the 3.9 inch UV OG2 lure behind a white UV flasher, 55 feet of cable in 70 feet of water. We kept some small Coho, and released some big wild Kings with both lure sizes. These new Glow OG2 lures are hooking some big Kings at Sekiu this year…..and some of them are hatchery keepers! Thanks for producing great lures, that consistently put salmon in the box!" Dana: Thanks for the report and the photos! The Glow OG2s are available through our online store. (Just scroll to the bottom of the Salmon lure section.) Haven't been able to fish the glow OG2s yet. So, when my brother suggested I drive over his way, help him launch his boat, and give it a try, I couldn't resist. Met him in Tacoma yesterday afternoon at the marina where he has his boat moored. Motored up to the Clay Banks and fished for a couple of hours. Took one decent King and missed two others on the takedown.
We were trolling with 100 feet on the cable in 120 to 150 feet of water. The smaller, 3.3" glow OG2 definitely was the most productive (in terms of takedowns and fish caught). Interesting datapoint, the 2 takedowns we missed, and the fish we caught were all while trolling west to east in front of the Clay Banks. To round out our offerings of OG2s, created with the new UV-glow filament, we're adding a 5" model. This size should be very effective when the salmon are keying on larger baitfish.
They're available now on the Store! Received the following report from Dana C. who is fishing the new glow OG2 out of Sekiu this weekend:
"We fished the “Caves” at Sekiu this morning. The first hatchery Chinook was just legal at 23 inches, and we decided to keep it. Then at 7am the line popped out of the clip, I grabbed the pole and held the pole tip up, as line was peeling off the reel. This fish has some weight to it! Both down riggers up, deck cleared, and net ready. One long run, a shorter run, and the fish started to wear out. Finally the fish was on its side, and I could see it was a big hatchery Chinook! Into the net and into the boat. Both fish were caught using the Old Goat UV-filament 3.9 inch lure behind a UV flasher, in 65 feet of water, with 50 feet of cable on the down rigger. This second Chinook was 39 inches long and 24.3 pounds! This new Old Goat UV-filament 3.9 inch lure is the best ever! Thank you for continuing to make great lures, that put salmon in the box!" Dana! Thanks for the report and the photo! Fishermen: If you don't have the new glow OG2 in your tackle box, order one now--they're available through the store! |
