I wanted to test the new 3.9 inch lures with the single fluorescent stripe on the exterior. (I'd painted up a couple of 2.8 inch lures with the same pattern: A single fluorescent orange or pink stripe on the exterior.) This color scheme seems to work well with the translucent plastic in the lure body.
We made the two hour drive to Sprague Lake and were on the water around 11am. The weather was incredible--hard to believe it was early November! We motored over to the north shore and started trolling around the cluster of small islands. Continued east along the shore without any action. Simultaneously noticed several boats fishing the south shore; so, we headed across. The fishing picked up soon after we arrived along that south shoreline. We were trolling 30 or 40 yards from the shore itself and it seemed like we picked up at least one fish with each pass. The new color scheme works. Below is a short video:
